As the second Trump Administration assumes office, few topics are garnering more attention and anticipation than the President’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative. Indeed, many in the government contracting community are extremely interested in understanding how departments, workforces, and programs could be impacted by DOGE.
Against this backdrop, George Mason University’s Greg and Camille Baroni Center for Government Contracting hosted a webinar discussion on February 5, 2025 to explore areas where DOGE could have an impact on the government contracting community. Some key questions explored during the discussion include:
What are the existing authorities by which DOGE can enact changes to these focus areas?
In what areas would the panelists recommend DOGE focus potential efforts?
What aspects of the current federal contracting and acquisition system are in need of updating?
What are the biggest hurdles for implementing prospective changes?
How can federal employees and contractors navigate these proposals and prepare for changes?
