Biography

Candace Deans is the Masters of Science in Technology Management program director and an instructional professor within the Information Systems and Operations Management Area in the Costello College of Business at George Mason University.

Prior to coming to George Mason she served on the faculty of the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond. She also has been on the faculty at the Thunderbird School of Global Management and Wake Forest University.

Deans completed her PhD in information technology and international business at the University of South Carolina. Her research interests are at the intersection of information technology and international business. She has published five books and numerous articles on global IT issues. Deans is a regular speaker at conferences both nationally and internationally.

Research and Awards

  • Had the presentation titled “Technology and New Leadership Roles for the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)” (with colleague Betsy Tretola), published in the proceedings from the AMA Winter Conference in Spring 2016.
  • Presented the paper titled, “Teaching Social Business Strategy from a Global Perspective” at the International Association of Information Management in Fort Worth, Texas in December in 2015. The paper was also published in the conference proceedings.
  • Received a Teaching Award from George Mason University in 2016.
  • Had the presentation titled “A Framework for Developing a Social Media Strategy” published in the proceedings from the Decision Sciences Institute Annual Meeting in  2015.
  • Presented the paper titled, “A Framework for Developing a Social Medai Strategy” at the Decision Sciences Institute Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington in 2015.
